The Hong Kong Journalists Association has accused mainland authorities of editing video to conceal police violence against a Hong Kong journalist.
Police in Beijing released a video of the incident, involving a cameraman from Hong Kong’s Now TV, and claimed he had refused to comply with their instructions.
The video of the altercation showed the cameraman had been arguing with an officer to try to get his press pass back, and twice tried to snatch it from the officer's hand.
The cameraman was left bloodied and bruised after he was wrestled to the ground and handcuffed by several officers.
The HKJA said the journalist was dragged away violently even though he did not use violence and did not refuse to obey police instructions.
The group says it's also not satisfied with the Chief Executive's response to the incident, accusing her of being ambivalent and not safeguarding the freedom and safety of the press.
The HKJA has called on the central government to introduce measures to prevent a repetition.
