Three inmates at Puk Uk prison have been put in isolation after dozens of inmates joined a protest against some regulations at the facility.
This came after 43 inmates refused to eat their breakfast on Thursday because prison guards rejected a request related to work arrangements for prisoners.
The officials said the three inmates in isolation are under investigation as they allegedly incited others to join the protest. But the press note did not specify what was the rule change the prisoners wanted.
The Correctional Services Department said after being given advice and warnings, the prisoners resumed taking meals and the atmosphere at the prison was stable again.
The statement said the department will continue to monitor the situation.
