  • Rugby Sevens kiss may be assault: Holden Chow

A member of the Equal Opportunities Commission, DAB lawmaker Holden Chow, says the kissing of a TV reporter without her consent by two rugby fans at the weekend might have amounted to an indecent assault.

Two men kissed the reporter on either cheek while she was in the middle of a live broadcast from a spectactor stand at the Hong Kong Sevens tournament.

The reporter's employer, i-Cable News, said it would not be pursuing the matter, with executive director Ronald Chiu saying it should simply be laughed off.

But Chow said he would bring up Sunday's incident at an upcoming meeting of the rights watchdog.

"There is a possibility that the incident could actually constitute indecent assault or sexual harassment ... if the reporter was kissed against her will, then there is such a possibility," he said.

Chow added that people should not take the problem of sexual harassment lightly.
