Tanya Chan speaks to RTHK's Damon Pang

Pro-government lawmakers left the Legco chamber en masse on Wednesday afternoon as a debate got underway on a motion calling for the vindication of the 1989 pro-democracy movement on the mainland.

No government officials were planning to speak either on the June 4 massacre in Beijing.

Civic Party legislator Tanya Chan, who moved the motion, said it is important that Hong Kong people still make an effort to go to the annual vigil at Victoria Park to mark the crackdown.

She told RTHK's Damon Pang that she hopes Hong Kong residents will continue to have the freedom to do this.
