Inspectors have reopened seven lifts in a block of flats where a woman was found dead at the bottom of a shaft, but the one involved in the accident remains closed.
The lifts at Paris Court in Sheung Shui were suspended from service and inspected by Electrical and Mechanical Services Department staff overnight after the a woman was found dead on Friday afternoon.
The department said a preliminary investigation found the suspension cables are intact - and it's looking into other possible causes of the accident.
It's believed the 64-year-old's leg got caught between the outer doors of the lift, and she fell into the shaft when the car moved up.
The director of the department, Alfred Sit, says officials will inspect all 90 lifts of the same model across the territory over the next two weeks.
