  • Lawmakers given warning after security guard hurt

Legco president Andrew Leung has warned lawmakers to behave when they are in the Legislative Council complex, after a security guard was allegedly hurt while removing a councillor from a rowdy meeting.

Leung said the officer's finger was injured as he carried pro-democracy lawmaker Au Nok-hin out of a meeting to scrutinise legislation for West Kowloon Station.

"If members do not follow the orders of the chairman ... they might even infringe on the Powers and Privileges Ordinance. So I feel it is my duty to warn my fellow legislators to [behave] in a professional and legal manner," the Legco president said.

The chairwoman of the bills committee, Regina Ip, had also ordered security guards to remove Ray Chan, Jeremy Tam and Chu Hoi-dick from the meeting. Like Au, the three had protested over the way Ip was conducting the discussions.

Another security was elbowed during the ejections, Leung said.
