The chairman of the Legislative Council Commission, Andrew Leung, warned on Monday that the police may have to be called in if staff at the complex get injured in any rowdy protests by lawmakers.
Leung was speaking after the commission issued letters of condemnation to four pro-democracy councillors, warning them not to obstruct security personnel from carrying out their duties.
Gary Fan, Claudia Mo, Ray Chan and Au Nok-hin, from the Council Front group, received the letters for disrupting two recent Legco meetings.
Leung said the letters were a response to the lawmakers' actions at a meeting of a bills committee looking at the West Kowloon Station legislation, and a constitutional affairs panel meeting on the city's future national anthem law.
Four pro-democracy lawmakers, including Chan and Au, were dragged out of the bills committee meeting last week after protesting over the way it was being managed by chairwoman Regina Ip.
Leung said video clips from the two meetings clearly showed the four legislators obstructing security guards who were trying to keep order.
"If our secretariat staff get hurt, we have got no choice but to report the case to the police," he said.
Reacting to his comments, the four lawmakers said they won't be intimidated by this.
The Council Front's Claudia Mo said that if it was meant to be a scare tactic, it is not working.
People Power's Ray Chan and Neo Democrat Gary Fan said the pro-government camp is trying to suppress their freedom of expression.
Au Nok-hin, meanwhile, accused their rivals of using every possible means as a political tool to pursue democratic lawmakers.
