Members of a Legco committee said on Friday that DAB lawmaker Holden Chow is refusing to cooperate with them as they look into how he helped former Chief Executive CY Leung influence a probe into the UGL saga.
Chow held secret talks with Leung and allowed him to put forward changes to the scope of a Legco investigation into the HK$50 million the former CE received from the Australian engineering firm.
The committee's chairman Abraham Shek said Chow had ignored two requests so far for information and they would be writing to him for a third time.
Shek wouldn't reveal whether Leung is one of four people who have agreed to cooperate with the probe, or if he is among eight others approached who have chosen not to.
The Business and Professionals Alliance lawmaker told reporters they would have to ask Leung directly if he was willing to work with the committee.
After the revelations about Chow secretly aiding Leung, the DAB lawmaker stepped down as a member of the UGL select committee probe.
Leung, and the SAR government, have been accused of failing to cooperate with that investigation.
The former CE denies any wrongdoing over the UGL payments he received around the time he took office in 2012. Critics have raised concerns over a possible conflict of interest and a failure to disclose the payments.
