The Hong Kong Journalists Association (HKJA) has condemned an attack on TVB journalists who were covering an anti-extradition bill protest that took place outside the justice department on Thursday.
A group of protesters surrounded a TVB cameraman, shouted slogans and harassed him, alleging the network's coverage was biased.
They accused the station of "betraying Hongkongers".
The HKJA said it condemns such acts, as they interfere with press freedom.
"We urge the public to express their views rationally, and respect journalists' right to report," the association said.
It said harassing frontline workers would only end up in harming the public's right to know.
"We urge the public to reflect any discontent over media coverage to the relevant organisation, instead of venting anger on frontline reporters and blocking them from doing their job," it said.
