  • Fatal Uber crash prompts passenger-risk warning

A lawmaker has issued a warning about passenger risks after a fatal accident that involved a Uber vehicle.

The 50-year-old Uber driver was killed in the four-vehicle pile-up that happened overnight on the Argyle Street flyover in Kowloon City.

Four other people, including an Uber passenger, were injured in the pile up that included a taxi.

In Legco, Ben Chan who is a member of the transport panel, urged the government to clarify how it is regulating Uber in the city.

The DAB lawmaker said the accident should serve as a warning to both the government and passengers on the risks and legality of the service. He also urged Uber to reveal the details of its third-party insurance coverage.
