The broadcasting regulator has agreed to give i-Cable subsidiary Fantastic TV two more months to launch its English-language service, after the firm explained that it is facing "genuine difficulties" in setting up the channel.
The free-to-air station was supposed to launch the 24-hour channel by the end of this month, but the Communications Authority's decision means the deadline has been pushed back to the end of July.
However, the regulator says this extension is final, and was only granted because this is an "exceptional case".
Fantastic TV's Cantonese-language channel was launched in May last year.
Hong Kong currently has two free-to-air TV channels in English, TVB's Pearl and ViuTv's ViuTVsix.
