Police displayed a photo of the dog on their Facebook page after it was rescued from Victoria Harbour on Saturday by marine officers.

In a bizarre tale of suspected animal cruelty, a dog which was rescued by police from Victoria Harbour at the weekend was found dead on Wednesday, apparently having been thrown from the top of a residential block.

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty.

The force received a report shortly after 6am on Wednesday that there were blood stains and broken glass on Cheung Wah Street in Cheung Sha Wan.

When officers went to the scene to investigate, they found the body of the dog nearby.

Police sources said it was the same dog they pulled from the sea in Tsim Sha Tsui on Saturday.

The dog had been handed back to its owners by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
