Residents of a Yuen Long village say their homes have been shaking during trial runs for the express rail line to the mainland and they're worried that cracks that developed in the walls of their houses during construction of the line could get even worse.
Yuen Long district councillor Kenny Man said on Wednesday that he had received several complaints about the cracks from people living in Wai Tsai Tsuen.
Residents there are now reporting vibrations and noise during test runs for the high-speed trains, he said.
The councillor added that he's concerned that the vibrations could affect the flow of underground water and have an impact on nearby farms and fishponds.
Man called on the MTR Corporation to conduct tests and rectify the situation if necessary.
