A 42-year-old construction worker has been killed after he was hit by a falling wooden batten.

The incident happened at around 10:30 am on Saturday at a construction site in Kwun Tong.

Police say the worker was working on scaffolding on the 8th floor when he was hit on the head by a falling piece of wood.

He lost his balance and fell to the 6th floor where he was found unconscious.

The Labour Department is investigating where the wood fell from and whether negligence was to blame.
