A worker died on Sunday after falling through an opening in the floor at a construction site in Tseung Kwan O. She was rushed to hospital, where she was certified dead.

The Labour Department said it was concerned about the incident and would be investigating.

"We will complete investigation as soon as possible to identify the cause of the accident, ascertain the liability of the duty holders and recommend improvement measures. We will take actions pursuant to the law if there is any violation of the work safety legislation," a department spokesman said.

The department also expressed its deepest sympathy to the woman's family.
