Police in Kwai Chung have arrested a 73-year-old woman on suspicion of murdering her husband in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Chief inspector Wong Sun-lok said they received a call from a woman at 4:24am alleging her mother had attacked her father at their home at Kwai Yiu House in Lai Yiu Estate.
He said officers arrived at the scene to find a 69-year-old man with six knife wounds ranging from 4 to 10 centimetres long.
The couple were taken to Princess Margaret Hospital, but the husband was declared dead at 5:41am.
Wong said that officers seized a vegetable knife from the scene.
He said police had not yet questioned the suspect who was believed to be suffering from schizophrenia and depression, and she remained in hospital.
Wong told reporters that the family of three had lived in the flat together for more than 30 years and there was no record of any domestic violence.
