  • Woman, 68, killed in Sheung Shui accident

A driver has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death following an early-morning fatal accident in Sheung Shui.

Police say the 59 year-old suspect was driving his van along Jockey Club Road towards Sheung Shui at around 4.10am on Sunday when it collided with a heavy goods vehicle.

A female passenger in the van – a 68-year-old-woman – suffered serious injuries and was unconscious when she was rushed to North District Hospital, where she was certified dead around an hour later.

The driver was also taken to hospital with injuries to his hand and legs, before he was arrested.

The driver of the heavy goods vehicle, who’s 26, passed an alcohol test.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward to assist in their investigation.
