The Water Supplies Department on Saturday said it was cutting off fresh water at thousands of homes in part of Kwai Chung District overnight to deal with a water main burst.

Emergency repairs are being carried out on the burst main at Lei Shu Road from 10pm, with supplies expected to resume gradually from 8am on Sunday.

The areas affected are in Kwai Shing Circuit, north of Wo Yi Hop Road and Cheung Pei Shan Road.

The department said the buildings affected included the whole of Lei Muk Shue Estate, Cheung Shan Estate, Shek Yam Estate, Shek Yam East Estate, On Yam Estate, Ning Fung Court, Shek Lei (I) and (II) Estate, Yi Fung Court, Greenknoll Court, High Prosperity Terrace, Kwai Chung Estate (Chun Kwai House, Ha Kwai House and Chau Kwai House), Kwai Shing East Estate (Shing Yat House, Shing Wo House, Shing Keung House, Shing On House, Shing Hing House, Shing Kwok House, Shing Ka House, Shing Fung House and Shing Hei House), Kwai Luen Estate (Luen Yan House and Luen Hei House), Kwai Shing West Estate (Block 1 to 10) and Horizon Place, Sam Tung Uk Resite Village and Lo Wai.
