The government will on Wednesday expand walk-in vaccination services to cover people aged 60 and above.
At present, people who are 70 or older can get a same-day ticket to get a Covid-19 jab without having to make an online reservation in advance, and authorities say they have decided to expand the scheme since it has been working smoothly.
A total of 4,600 same-day tickets are distributed daily from 7.45am between 24 community vaccine centres on a first-come, first-served basis.
Most centres distribute 200 tickets per day, while those at the Tung Chung Community Hall and the airport only give out 100 passes a day due to limited capacity.
In a statement, authorities urged elderly people to get vaccinated as they are at a higher risk of suffering from complications from Covid, and even death.
Separately, health officials reported two new imported coronavirus cases on Monday.
One of them involved a seven-month-old baby girl who arrived from Russia.
The other patient was a 39-year-old man who travelled from Romania. He had received doses of the BioNTech vaccine in April and May.
