Visitors give their verdict on the Avenue of Stars revamp
Visitors to the revamped Avenue of Stars gave it a thumbs up as the tourist attraction reopened on Thursday morning, after being fenced off for over three years.
Ten more celebrity handprints have been added at the tourist hotspot along the Tsim Sha Tsui Harbourfront, along with other additional features.
All the handprints have been moved from the ground to the railings, giving visitors a chance to take pictures with a scenic backdrop.
"Even from a respect point of view, it’s kind of nice that you are not walking on something that is so incredible. You can just look and it is there, and it is not getting dirty by our feet,", said Jade, a tourist from Canada.
Another visitor named Jeff, who was from Toronto, agreed. "It makes you look up more and you can see more of the wonderful scenery here. And no one really wants to look on the floor right?"
"So if you put them here on the hand-rails, it’s nicer and makes it easier for you to see and interact with the venue," he said.
The promenade has also been widened, with the number of seats doubled and more shading provided.
Ann White, from the United Kingdom, was impressed with the seats for visitors.
"I think it’s encouraging people to stop and look and see what’s here, isn’t it?" she said.
But it was not all praise from the visitors.. A tourist, surnamed Tang, was worried about the lack of greenery at the avenue.
He said the lack of trees would be felt greatly when it gets very hot in the summer.
