Police say they have arrested seven men and a woman in connection with the murder of a 70-year-old man in Yuen Long last month.

Among those arrested, a 32-year-old man and a 65-year old man have been jointly charged with one count of murder. The 32-year-old man was also jointly charged with one count of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, along with two others, a 30-year-old man and a 33-year-old man.

The three others arrested were released on bail and are required to report back to the police in late May. Another arrestee is being detained for further enquiries. Police say further arrests could be made.

Police received a report on March 29 of a man being assaulted with a knife outside a building on Yuen Long Hong Lok Road. When they arrived at the scene the man was found to be unconscious on the ground. He was taken to Pok Oi Hospital and certified dead.

The force says it has seized three private cars, nine knives, a hammer, 18 mobile phones and some clothing in connection with the case.
