A former student leader at the Chinese University and a welfare worker were charged by the ICAC on Wednesday for allegedly inciting people to cast blank ballots in last year's Legislative Council elections.

So Tsun-fung, 22, and Chan Sing, 58, have been released on bail and they are expected to appear at the West Kowloon Magistrates' Court on Friday for plea, the anti-graft body said in a statement.

They are accused of sharing a social media post from former Democratic Party legislator Ted Hui, who had called on people to cast blank votes after Beijing changed the city's election rules to allow only patriots to run for public offices.

The ICAC said the alleged offences took place between October and December 2021.

Hui and six others are currently wanted by the anti-corruption watchdog for allegedly calling on people to boycott or cast blank votes in last year's Legco elections.
