Police on Saturday evening fired tear gas from inside Tsim Sha Tsui police station at around 8pm to disperse anti-government protesters after they started gathering outside the station.
"Some protesters started fires outside the Tsim Sha Tsui police station," the force said in a tweet.
It said even after repeated warnings the crowd refused to move and the ant-riot police officers "deployed tear gas and minimum force to disperse the protesters".
The protesters earlier blocked the Kowloon entrance of the Cross Harbour Tunnel in Hung Hom in another flash mob protest.
They then headed to Tsim Sha Tsui and started setting up makeshift barricades on Nathan Road to block traffic.
Police reinforcement soon arrived and riot officers started a dispersal operation and set up a cordon line along Nathan Road.
