The National Security Department of the Hong Kong Police on Thursday charged the Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements of China chairman Lee Cheuk-yan, and the group's two vice-chairs Albert Ho and Chow Hang-tung, as well as the group itself, with inciting subversion of state power.
Officers also charged Chow and four other members of the Alliance's standing committee - Leung Kam-wai, Chan To-wai, Tang Ngok-kwan and Tsui Hon-kwong - with failing to comply with the requirement to provide information requested by the police under the Implementation Rules for Article 43 of the National Security Law.
The police added in a statement they had frozen HK$2.2 million in assets belonging to the Alliance.
The case will be mentioned at West Kowloon Magistrates’ Court on Friday morning.
On Thursday afternoon, officers from the National Security unit were seen carting away documents, computers and promotional materials from the now-closed June 4 museum which was run by the Alliance.
