Chief Executive John Lee on Monday said an upcoming tour by the full Legislative Council to other cities in the Greater Bay Area will provide a great opportunity to discuss technology and youth development.
The CE will lead lawmakers on the visit later this month, with talks planned with provincial leaders.
Speaking ahead of the weekly Exco meeting, Lee said Hong Kong can make use of its strengths and find ways to work with the mainland in several aspects.
“Hong Kong can play a part in attracting talents. And also being the gateway between mainland cities and also the international world, we have, of course, advantages and strengths in some areas,” he said.
“Mainland cities have their advantages and strengths as well, so we want to create synergy in different areas including education, technology or even green environment development.”
Separately, Lee urged people to take part in National Security Education Day activities on April 15.
He said it is important for such education to start at a young age, so some of the planned events have been designed particularly for schoolchildren, including workshops, exhibitions and a carnival.
Sixty-thousand copies of a national security picture book will also be distributed to primary schools, Lee added.
