Police said on Monday they had arrested a taxi driver over an early morning collision with another taxi that left a pedestrian caught up in the smash dead.
One taxi was said to have ploughed into the back of the other at the intersection of Nathan Road and Gascoigne Road in Yau Ma Tei, sending the second taxi hurtling onto a pavement where it hit a 56-year-old man.
The pedestrian was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he was later certified dead.
A passenger in one of the taxis suffered arm and shoulder injuries.
Police said the 23-year-old driver of the first taxi was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death.
Neither driver was reported to have been injured in the crash which happened shortly after 3am.
