  • Tai Po lockdown finds five preliminary positive cases

Health authorities announced on Friday that they've found five preliminary positive cases of Covid-19 after testing 1,200 people in an overnight lockdown of three buildings in Tai Po.

One other person's test, meanwhile, was described as "indeterminate".

Officials sealed off Fu Cheong Court, Kwai Cheong Court and Wing Cheong Court of Fortune Plaza on Thursday night after the virus was found in sewage samples.

People who tested negative were allowed to leave at about 10.15am, and authorities said they’ll follow up on the five preliminary positive and one uncertain cases.

Meanwhile, residents of a block at Tai Hing Estate in Tuen Mun have been barred from leaving the building, even though an overnight lockdown of the block was supposed to be lifted at 7am.

Officials told residents of Hing Ping House that "a number" of positive cases have been detected, and urged them to return to their flats as soon as possible to prevent cross-infection.
