Suspect In Athlete Assault Case Granted Bail

A 77-year-old coach accused of indecently assaulting a teen athlete several years ago has appeared at Fanling court.
No plea was taken, and the defendant has been released on a HK$5,000 bail.
Prosecutors have requested that the defendant's identity be kept confidential because of the sensitivity of the case.
It is alleged that the defendant, identified as "WH", indecently assaulted the girl referred to as "X" in court, some time between September 1, 2009 to April 8, 2010 in Tai Po.
The next hearing is scheduled for June 15.
The case is the first one to emerge in Hong Kong after a world-wide "#MeToo" campaign on social media saw many women come out to speak against sexual abuses they had faced in the past.
The campaign was started after revelations of assaults by Hollywood boss Harvey Weinstien.
