A student union leader released without charge after being arrested for carrying laser pointers cancelled a planned press conference on Friday due to illness.
Keith Fong, the president of the Baptist University Students' Union, has been in hospital since his arrest in Sham Shui Po on Tuesday night.
The union said Fong was not able to meet reporters as planned because he was still sick and had a high fever.
Fong was arrested by off-duty officers on suspicion of possessing offensive weapons after they saw him buy 10 laser pointers from a stall in Apliu Street.
He claimed officers choked him during the arrest.
Police said the student was released unconditionally on Thursday night after refusing to be put on bail. But officers said they reserved the right to take further action against him in the future over the offensive weapons claim.
