The government continued its push with controversial extradition bill amendments on Friday, with senior government officials being summoned for a special briefing about the changes.
It’s understood that the meeting, held at the government's headquarters in Tamar, was ordered by Chief Secretary Matthew Cheung who wanted officials to learn about work relevant to the planned law changes.
Those who attended the meeting included Justice Secretary Teresa Cheng, Security Secretary John Lee, development chief Michael Wong, and Housing Secretary Frank Chan.
The briefing was also attended by, among others, Police Commissioner Stephen Lo, Director of Broadcasting Leung Ka-wing and ICAC chief Simon Peh.
The briefing lasted about an hour and none of those who attended responded to questions from journalists after the meeting.
