The highly-anticipated resumption of Express Rail Link services to Guangdong has finally happened.

Thousands of travellers eager to reach either side of the border boarded the sleek high-speed trains for the first time since 2020 early on Sunday.

Our reporter Wendy Wong was on the first train to Guangzhou East station.

She said travelling on the high-speed rail was hassle-free – except for the mandatory pre-departure PCR test – and that it was a much needed sliver of normality after three years of the pandemic.
