ShopBack has launched ShopBack Pay in Hong Kong, allowing consumers to earn and redeem Cashback directly in-store.
As part of the rollout, Octopus, Hong Kong’s most widely used payment method with 98% penetration, has been added to ShopBack Pay, alongside Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

“At Octopus, we’re all about making local spending simple and rewarding. In partnership with ShopBack, shoppers are offered more payment options while enjoying generous rewards. This not only helps local merchants strengthen their existing customer base but also drives local retail market growth,”
said Edwin Lai, General Manager, Retail Business & Partnership at Octopus.
ShopBack entered Hong Kong in 2022 with its online Cashback platform, working with merchants such as Taobao, Agoda, Klook, foodpanda, and iHerb.
To date, one million users have earned HK$300 million in Cashback from online purchases.
With ShopBack Pay, users can now redeem Cashback at more than 500 local outlets, including Ten Ren Tea, Gyu-Kaku, Kabo Burger, Aboutea, and Sushi Express.

“ShopBack has grown rapidly in Hong Kong since launching in 2022. Just last month during 9.9, we saw a 30% year-on-year increase in sales driven to merchants and brand partners. The launch of ShopBack Pay gives shoppers a smarter way to stretch their spending while supporting local merchants,”
said Julian Foo, General Manager of Financial Services at ShopBack.
ShopBack Pay supports online-to-offline (O2O) transactions, helping physical retailers attract customers and engage them digitally without developing their own apps.
Cashback is redeemable only on subsequent purchases, encouraging repeat visits.
Users can also combine Cashback with existing rewards from their preferred payment methods.
Ten Ren Tea is among the first local chains to adopt ShopBack Pay.
The Hong Kong launch adds to ShopBack’s payment rewards presence in Singapore, Australia, and Malaysia, where more than 20,000 outlets are already onboarded.
