Normalcy has returned to the areas in Sheung Wan which saw hourslong clashes between anti-extradition bill protesters and the police on Sunday night.
But several streets displayed scars of the battle between the two sides, during which many rounds of tear gas and rubber bullets were fired while protesters threw bricks and lit fire at barricades they erected.
The Democratic Party's district councillor Cheng Lai-ping said some residents in the area complained to her that they had trouble breathing when tear gas went into their home.
Some damaged traffic lights and street signs still remained on the scene. So were some bricks and barricades used by the protesters.
Some shops had closed for all day on Sunday as they expected trouble, but most resumed business on Monday morning.
A stationery store owner on Des Voeux Road Central said that they thought the number of visitors to the area would drop due to the protest. This had happened last Sunday also and this had affected the business.
Almost 50 people were arrested and 16 people were injured in the clashes.
