An elderly woman has died after being hit by a school bus inside the grounds of a primary school in Wong Chuk Hang.

The 63-year-old victim was working as a school bus attendant for St Paul’s Co-educational College Primary School where the accident took place.

She was trapped underneath the bus and died at the scene. The police said the bus was reversing when the mishap happened.

The 73-year-old driver was arrested over the incident.

The school’s vice-principal, Cheung Wai-shun, expressed her condolences to the victim's family. She said the school would cooperate with the police investigation.

Cheung said no traffic accident has ever happened in the school campus before.

She said the school would review various safety measures in view of the fatal accident.
