Police on Thursday arrested a part-time worker at RTHK on suspicion of possessing imitation firearms after he was allegedly found to be carrying two toy guns with him.

The video journalist was on his way to cover an open day at the police college in Wong Chuk Hang as part of "National Security Education Day".

Officers said the 22-year-old also had two walkie-talkies with him when he was stopped at Ocean Park MTR Station.

The force said the man is a film student at the Hong Kong Design Institute.

An RTHK spokesperson confirmed the arrest and said the journalist had immediately been removed from duties.

The station would fully cooperate with the police's investigation, the spokesperson added.
