RTHK Removes Veteran Journalist From Radio Show

RTHK has let go of another of its long-time radio show hosts.
Allan Au, a freelancer for the government broadcaster, told his audience on Monday that he had been notified that it would be the last time he co-hosted his current events programme on Radio 1.
Au had been a host of the programme for 11 years.
"I had really hoped that one day I could be doing this show without wearing a face mask, but I'd been saying this for more than a year and can't see this day arrive," he said at the end of the show.
"And it's time for me to say goodbye... with this chance I bid farewell to my audience, to my RTHK colleagues and to RTHK, everyone take care."
The government broadcaster says personnel arrangements for the show are internal editorial matters, and that it regularly reviews its content and manpower.
Au is a veteran journalist and columnist who has worked at various media outlets, including TVB. He has also taught at local universities.
His departure came a little over a week after another RTHK radio host, Tsang Chi-ho, said he was sacked with immediate effect.
Tsang, who presented the Crazy and Happy radio show every weekday, also used to host RTHK’s controversial satirical TV show Headliner, which was suspended last year following complaints by the police and warnings by the Communications Authority.
