  • Record number of applications for subsidised flats

The Housing Authority has received nearly 145,000 applications for a batch of 4,400 subsidised flats – a record over-subscription rate of almost 33 times.

Scores of people flocked to one Housing Authority office in Lok Fu close to the application deadline on Wednesday.

One man, who was too late to put in his application, accused the government of failing to supply enough flats. He also said the quota for single people should be increased.

The Home Ownership Scheme units currently on offer are in three projects in Cheung Sha Wan, Kai Tak and Tung Chung.
