Deutsche Bank Private Bank has launched an agentic AI tool to support Source of Wealth checks, part of its Know Your Customer (KYC) process.

Hong Kong and Singapore booking centres began using the tool in early September. A wider rollout across the Private Bank is planned.

Dubai-based advisers can also use the tool for accounts booked in Singapore.

Source of Wealth checks require banks to establish and document how a prospective client built their wealth.

Drawing on information available in the client case and from approved external sources, the tool automates the research, documentation and data preparation for this step.

It sits within the bank’s digital KYC platform and helps spot gaps or inconsistencies. Staff then review the assessments it helps prepare.

According to the bank, accountability for these checks stays with its employees.

“By reducing manual and repetitive tasks, we enable our relationship managers to focus more on advising clients while maintaining the high standards expected by clients and regulators,”

said Marco Pagliara, Head of Emerging Markets at Deutsche Bank Private Bank.

The bank expects the tool to support much higher onboarding volumes within its existing operating model and control framework.

Deutsche Bank’s Emerging Markets coverage region is on track to onboard around 30 per cent more clients in 2026 than in 2025, based on the bank’s current forecasts.

According to the bank, the tool also contributes towards a Singapore industry goal of median onboarding times of one month or less, including for more complex cases.
