Some residents of a Quarry Bay building said on Monday that they were glad that a lockdown and mass testing exercise there had identified three possible Covid carriers among their neighbours and had hopefully prevented a further spread of the virus.
The preliminary positive cases were found in Wai Lee Building, where 860 people were tested.
A resident surnamed Chun said it was good that the infected people were found and that a wider Covid outbreak may have been avoided.
"I can't worry too much about the virus. The only thing I can do is practise good personal hygiene," she said.
Another resident said he supported the lockdowns but thought the way they have been carried out has been disappointing.
He said he was stopped from going out at 7am as officials said they had yet to take away patients who had tested preliminary positive for the virus.
"It took them so long to bring the patients away. To avoid cross-infection, they could've reserved a lift for the patients, and let us use another lift, instead of keeping us waiting," he said.
In Hung Hom, one preliminary positive case was found in Cheong Lok Mansion.
Some residents there said they were a bit late for work because of the lockdown, but they believed that the mass testing could offer them greater protection against the virus.
