The government has reminded members of the public that they won't be required to report their coronavirus infections from January 30, when the mandatory five-day isolation is scrapped.

In a statement issued on Friday, authorities say isolation orders will no longer be issued to Covid patients from Monday.

Free PCR tests will no longer be available to everyone, and the service will only be offered to those from high-risk premises and groups.

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) won’t issue daily press releases on infection and death numbers, and the information will be uploaded to its website instead.

The CHP says people infected with Covid should observe personal hygiene and rest at home if they have symptoms, but those who are asymptomatic can go out or head to work.

However, infected students should not go to schools until they test negative for the virus.

Meanwhile, the various community isolation facilities will operate until February 28 for Covid patients who wish to stay away from their families to prevent the spread of the virus.
