Members of the China Human Rights Lawyers Concern Group have staged a protest outside the Liaison Office in Western. They are demanding the immediate release of human rights activists detained by mainland authorities, including mainland lawyer Wang Quanzhang.

Wang has been in detention for around three years. His wife and his legal team haven't heard from him since his arrest during the so-called 709 crackdown on lawyers and activists on July 9, 2015.

Former legislator Leung Kwok Hung of the League of Social Democrats was among the protesters. He said President Xi Jinping talked about the rule of law and the constitution so he should order officials to respond to the request of Wang's wife.
