Police have arrested four Hong Kong residents for producing and using fake bank notes.
Officers raided a commercial unit in Aberdeen and seized 500- and 100-dollar fake bills with a face value of about $220,000, as well as equipment for their production.
An acting chief inspector of the Commercial Crime Bureau, Tse Ka-lun, said he believed most people would be able to identify the counterfeit notes.
"The quality of the counterfeit banknote is quite poor. The way they print it, the way they put the security feature - the fake security feature is quite poor," he said.
"So I think most of the general public can tell the difference, if they have a good look at the banknote itself."
