A pro-democracy legislator and support staff accused the police on Tuesday of adopting double standards in cutting off access to the Legislative Council complex, saying people working for pro-government councillors were allowed in but not them.
Officers have cordoned off the complex as a giant crime scene, as they scour the building for evidence relating to Monday's break-in by masked protesters.
Pro-democracy legislator Kenneth Leung said he was unhappy with the police arrangements, because Legco is the symbol of parliamentary sovereignty in Hong Kong.
"The police have not made public what sort of arrangement they have put within the building for today," he said.
"At least they should let all the legislators know what they are allowed to do and what they are not allowed to do and give us a schedule [as to] when the complex will be reopened again." he said.
Meanwhile, some assistants employed by pro-democracy lawmakers complained that they're being unfairly blocked from entering the complex even though they have valid staff passes.
The council remained on a red alert on Tuesday, after the Secretariat issued the warning the previous day.
They also alleged that they saw the assistant of pro-goverment lawmaker Junius Ho roaming around inside the building, as well as other people holding staff passes.
Activist Joshua Wong, who's also an assistant for Council Front legislator Au Nok-hin, said the police have taken complete control of Legco for an unspecified amount of time and are treating assistants working for the opposition differently.
"I don't think allowing the police force to rule and control the whole of the Legislative Council has any reasonable ground at all," he said.
