Police were called on Monday to investigate a bomb threat made against drinks company Vitasoy, sources said.

The force said it received a report from an employee at around 11am regarding claims made online that a bomb had been planted at a company on Ho Tin Street, Tuen Mun.

Officers found nothing after conducting a search of the scene.

The case was being treated as criminal intimidation and no arrests had been made to date.

Vitasoy is mired in controversy following the online circulation of a memo which offered the company's condolences to the family of an employee who died after stabbing a policeman on July 1.

Following calls on the mainland for a boycott of the firm, Vitasoy said a member of staff had written the memo and circulated it without authorisation.

The company said it reserves the right to take legal action against the worker, describing the memo as "extremely inappropriate".

On Monday, shares of Vitasoy were down about 15 percent during trading, their biggest single-day drop since its listing in 1994, before rebounding and closing 11.7 percent lower at HK$25.95.
