Police on Tuesday arrested a woman accused of unlawfully taking photographs during a court hearing, just hours after a High Court judge issued a warrant for her detention.

The judge's order came after Tang Lin-ling failed to pay bail as arranged and it appeared that she could have provided a fake address.

Sources told RTHK that Tang was arrested outside a hotel in Admiralty and she would be brought before the court later in the day.

Last week saw almost farcical scenes in court as Tang, who is believed to be a mainlander, turned up with a barrister she had met in a lift and later dismissed him saying she doubted his professionalism.

Tang, who spoke in English and claimed to have studied law in Australia, originally said she was staying at the Shangri-La hotel.

But when asked for her address on Friday, she said she didn't want to reveal it in front of the "very annoying" press. Judge Andrew Chan allowed her to write it down for him.

Tang was released on bail of HK$50,000 and was given some time to get the money together. By Tuesday morning, she had failed to pay it. Police could not find her at the address given.

Tang is suspected of taking photographs during a hearing relating to the November 2014 clearance of the Mong Kok Occupy protest site.

The alleged breach came just days after photos of jurors in localist Edward Leung's riot trial were posted to the judiciary, raising fears the move could have been an attempt to pervert the course of justice.
