A 75-year-old patient has died after complaining that a hard object had been inserted into his anus when he was showering. Tuen Mun Hospital has reported the matter to the police.
The man, who had end-stage renal failure, made the complaint last Saturday. Following a colonoscopy examination, it was confirmed that he had an ulcer of around two centimetres in length in his rectum. He was given treatment but his condition still got worse.
He was then given a CT scan which indicated he had a perforation in his rectum. He was told an urgent operation was needed but he refused and he died the following day.
The Hospital has also referred the case to the Coroner
