Several pro-democracy lawmakers again staged a protest against Chief Executive Carrie Lam as she arrived for her monthly question and answer session in the Legislative Council on Wednesday.
The lawmakers accused the Chief Executive of selling out Hong Kong by proposing changes to the law which would allow fugitives to be surrendered to other jurisdictions with which the SAR has no extradition treaty, including the mainland, Macau and Taiwan.
The legislators shouted slogans and held up placards during the brief protest, but Lam walked past them without paying any attention.
The government has proposed changes to two ordinances, citing the case of Hong Kong suspect who is wanted in Taiwan over a murder. The victim was also from Hong Kong.
The Chief Executive has faced such protests by opposition lawmakers the last few times she has appeared before Legco, over other issues such as changes in welfare payments for the elderly.
