Operation Santa Claus (OSC), an annual charity campaign jointly run by Radio Television Hong Kong and South China Morning Post, is raising funds for 15 charitable projects to help the needy.

Marking its 35th anniversary, the annual campaign has raised HK$353 million to support 323 charities over the years.

Speaking at a ceremony to mark OSC's anniversary on Thursday, Chief Secretary Eric Chan said the values highlighted by the charity campaign are in line with the government's goals to build a caring community and a more promising and united Hong Kong where people enjoy living and working.

"I encourage everyone, individuals, companies, schools and community groups to team up with Operation Santa Claus by contributing their money, time, efforts and fundraising ideas to support this charity drive," he said.

Speaking at the same ceremony, Director of Broadcasting, Eddie Cheung, said OSC's mission statement is to drive and lead the spirit of giving, to bring people together to brighten Hong Kong’s community.

"Help us to spread the words to your friends to drive the spirit of giving. Giving is more meaningful than receiving," he said.

OSC is raising funds for local charities to support projects ranging from providing children, youth and elderly services to helping those with physical and mental disabilities.
