At least one person has been killed after a fire broke out in Shek Lei estate in Kwai Chung on Saturday morning.

Firefighters were called out around 8.10am to deal with the blaze on the 9th floor of Shek Yi House.

About 100 residents had to be evacuated before the fire was brought under control half-an-hour later. A charred body was later found inside the flat.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation. Several District Councillors turned up to offer assistance.
