The High Court on Wednesday granted bail to one of the 47 pro-democracy figures facing subversion charges over their involvement in Legco primary polls last year.
Winnie Yu, the former head of the HA Employees Alliance – a Hospital Authority workers' union – had been held in custody since she was charged in late February.
At a bail review hearing, national security judge Esther Toh agreed to release Yu on bail of HK$150,000, making her the 13th defendant in the case to be freed as the legal proceedings continue.
As part of her bail conditions, Yu is required to report to the police four times a week and abide by a curfew order. She is barred from leaving Hong Kong, organising or coordinating any elections, and contacting foreign officials or lawmakers.
She is also banned from making or forwarding comments, or carrying out any acts that could breach the national security law.
The authorities allege that last year's primaries were part of a subversive attempt by the pro-democracy camp to win enough seats in Legco to paralyse the government.
The group's case is expected to return to court on September 23.
